Why we're offering an AI setup service - and why now is the right time.

There's a shift happening in how small businesses operate, and it's moving faster than most people realise. AI is no longer the exclusive territory of big brands with dedicated tech teams and six-figure software budgets. It's landing right on the doorstep of an independent pilates studio, hairdressing salon and boutique aesthetics clinic, and for the first time, the tools are actually built for them.

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, launched Claude for Small Business this week. And it changes things in a very practical way, that's relevant to every client we work with.

Here's what this means, why we're offering AI setup as a service, and what it could mean for your business.

What Claude for Small Business actually is

Claude for Small Business is a package of ready-to-run AI workflows that connects Claude directly into the tools small businesses already use (HubSpot, Google Workspace, Canva, QuickBooks, PayPal, DocuSign, Microsoft 366) It runs inside Claude Cowork and is designed to be easy to use for business owners who don’t have technical knowledge.

Once it's all connected, Claude can handle all of your time-consuming and mundane tasks. Things like drafting and sending invoices, chasing payments, reconciling accounts, building email campaigns, scheduling content, routing contracts for signature. These are the tasks that quietly eat hours every week. The ones that get done late at night, squeezed in between everything else, or put off until they become a major problem.

Why this is significant

For a long time, AI adoption in business followed a familiar pattern: the biggest companies moved first, built competitive advantage, and smaller businesses watched from the outside. The tools were enterprise-priced, enterprise-complicated, and enterprise-supported, meaning you needed a team just to run them.

That gap has been narrowing, but Claude for Small Business is one of the clearest signals yet that it's closing for good. Small businesses account for nearly half of the private sector workforce. They've been underserved by technology built for much larger organisations, and AI has been no different, until now.

For the founders and business owners we work with, across health, wellness, fitness, and beauty, this is genuinely useful infrastructure. AI integrations and workflows remove the need for a VA, frees them from endless admin, and gives them back the headspace to focus our work together.

My only criticism of the current structure is that this feature is only available through the Enterprise plan, which costs £91 per month for five seats. For sole traders or very small businesses managing operations independently, that feels excessive and somewhat misaligned with the audience most likely to benefit from it. Hopefully, Anthropic eventually extends this feature to Pro plan users, as the current pricing barrier feels slightly counterintuitive.

We aren’t we scared of being replaced by AI?

There's a familiar narrative that AI is replacing marketing agencies. We'd reframe it as: AI is replacing replaceable agencies. The marketing providers who practice templated thinking, implement carbon-copy strategies, and offers that look identical regardless of who the client is. If the work was never truly tailored, AI can replicate it. Because there was nothing proprietary there to begin with.

At ALM, that has never been our model. We literally sit across the table from our clients. We meet in person and we build relationships that go far beyond a monthly deliverable. That depth of relationship is irreplaceable. The strategic judgement that comes from truly knowing a brand, its founder, and the landscape it's operating in, AI cannot offer that. It cannot sit with you, read the room, challenge your thinking, or back you when it matters. A real marketing partner does.

What AI is great for, is removing operational noise, the admin, the scheduling, the repeatable processes that sit beneath the work, so that our time and attention stay exactly where it should be. On the strategy, the creative decisions, and the relationships that build your brand.

You'll leave with Claude running inside your existing tools and a team that knows how to use it.

This is the entry point, and for a lot of businesses, it's all they'll ever need.

Ongoing maintenance - included in our multi-channel marketing packages

For clients on a monthly marketing retainer with us, AI setup and maintenance is an optional ad-on service in the same way that email marketing or paid ads management is. As your business grows and your workflows evolve, we keep your AI systems updated, optimised, and aligned with your marketing activity. It becomes a part of how we manage your marketing.
